One great thing about Final Fantasy was how diverse its world was, as it was not just populated with humans, but also all manner of rat people, a runaway tribe of puppet-like Black Mages, and the genderless, food-loving Qu. From the wartorn nation of Burmecia to the Mognet sidequest, Final Fantasy IX presented a world that the player can truly immerse themselves in. This sense of a living and breathing world is seen throughout the adventure, as the party, led by the thief Zidane, visits all sorts of varied locations around the world. None of the dinginess of something like Midgar or the sterile nature of Balamb Garden, Final Fantasy IX begins with a massive celebration involving an entire kingdom.
